Terms of Service

Last updated September 7, 2026

By creating an account or using Season One, you agree to these terms.

Who runs this
Season One, a social app for talking about television and film.
Minimum age
13.
Your content
You own it. You give us permission to show it on Season One — nothing more.
Is it public?
Yes, by default. Assume anyone can read what you post.
Cashtags and handles
You do not own them. We can reassign one — see below.
Abuse and harassment
Zero tolerance. Report it and we act within 24 hours.
If we disagree
Get in touch first. We would rather fix it than argue about it.

Public by default

Season One is a public conversation. What you post is visible to anyone, whether or not they have an account, and can be quoted, screenshotted and archived by people we do not control. Direct messages are private to the people in them, and are not end-to-end encrypted.

Your account

You create an account with an email address and password. You're responsible for activity under your account, and for keeping your password and access to it secure. A phone number is only required if you apply to claim or verify a show/movie page as an official representative — see "Show/ticker claims" below.

Cashtags and handles

A cashtag like $SVRNC identifies a title, not a person, and a handle identifies an account. You do not own either one. We may change, reclaim or reassign a cashtag or handle — for example where it is being squatted, where it impersonates someone, where it belongs to a title nobody discusses and a title people do discuss needs it, or where keeping it would be misleading.

Where a cashtag changes, links to the old one keep working. Where a handle is reclaimed we will tell the account holder first unless doing so would defeat the point, such as with impersonation.

Your content

You own what you post. By posting, you grant us a license to display it within the app so other users can see it. Don't post anything illegal, harassing, or infringing on someone else's rights.

Acceptable use

Don't use automated tools to spam, manipulate ticker activity, impersonate others, or attempt to bypass our rate limits or verification systems. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Objectionable content and abusive behaviour

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users on Season One. Objectionable content includes harassment, threats, hate speech or slurs directed at people or groups, sexual content involving minors, content that sexualises or endangers children, graphic violence, incitement to violence or self-harm, doxxing, impersonation, and spam.

Every post and every direct message can be reported from inside the app, and any account can be blocked. Blocking is a two-way wall: you stop seeing them and they stop seeing you.

We review every report within 24 hours. Where a report is upheld we remove the content, and we suspend or permanently remove the account that posted it. Serious violations end an account on the first offence, with no warning. We do not require a report to act: content we find ourselves is treated the same way.

If you believe your account was removed in error, write to the address at the bottom of this page and a person will look at it again.

Show/ticker claims

If you claim to represent a show, we may verify that claim before granting a verified badge or owner permissions. Falsely claiming to represent a show is a violation of these terms.

Disclaimer

Season One is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for user-generated content, and show/movie metadata is sourced from third parties and may not always be accurate.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
